You may ask yourself why I have a page about the joy of vegan living on my language website. Here is a part of my answer. (I will talk in more detail about this big topic by and by.) I believe that language, perception, the stories we tell ourselves in order to cope with life, and therefore how we behave and act are all intricately connected. We use language in order to perceive the world inside and around us and language is in turn formed by what we experience and perceive inside and around us. This is a very complicated dance. I love studying this dance. That's one of the reasons why I am a philologist.
I also believe that all earthlings are compassionate, loving beings at heart but that cultural traditions, conditioning, and trauma often disconnect and alienate us from our heart, ourselves, and our compassion, and then lead us to act in ways that are not in alignment with our compassionate nature.
And I believe that holistic language study and text analysis (which are only truly possible if you understand syntax) can help us understand how language affects us and shapes our stories. And these studies can also help us understand how language either alienates us from ourselves, our core values, and others, or how it can be used to reconnect us. Understanding how we think and feel and why we behave and act the way we do and how the language we use or that others use on us affects us is not only important but it's a human right and a civic duty of all who want to vote.
I am on a mission to make the world safe for holistic grammar, compassionate teaching, and compassionate veganism. For me, they are connected. Follow my YouTube channel and Insty account for more on this topic.
So far I have written one essay about this topic. Click on the image below this text to read about it in my store and to get to the link leading to amazon.de. The essay is written in German because it is based on two animal rights talks I gave, one at RWTH Aachen University and one at The University of Innsbruck. If you want to book me for a talk, please contact me via email at friderike(at)joy-of-syntax.com.
